Mary Kate Schilke
Style & Approach:
My name is Mary Kate Schilke. I work to create a safe and non-judgemental space where people can share their story and experience. I meet people where they are at and explore with them what they are looking for in therapy, such as personal growth, a space to process the past, or perhaps support during a difficult season. I try to create an environment that is welcoming and where someone can begin to find holistic healing — mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical. I help people grow in awareness of their emotions and explore how to regulate them. I walk with people as they learn to recognize unhelpful thought patterns and develop new ways of relating to themselves and others through the lens of compassion.
I have experience working with people who are navigating grief, anxiety, depression, and relationship issues. If you find yourself weighed down by one of these struggles, I would be happy to sit with you and slowly unpack this together.
Qualifications:
I hold a Master of Arts in Counselling and Spirituality from Saint Paul University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.
In therapy, I tend to draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, (CBT) and Mindfulness practices. I have completed specific training in EFT and in Mindfulness and have developed competency in CFT and CBT through the guidance of supervisors.
